HLB ENG Hydrogen Ship Bluebird Anchors in Taehwa River

In April 2022, HLB ENG successfully completed a pilot test of a hydrogen fuel cell-based ship in the Taehwa River National Garden in Ulsan with the attendance of city officials. The hydrogen-powered vessel used for the test, called "Bluebird," was constructed by HLB ENG and developed to be a multi-purpose vessel. A city official who participated in the test said, "During the operation, only the faint sound of the small hydrogen motor was heard, and it sailed smoothly and stably." Using eight 51L hydrogen storage tanks, the ship can sail at 10 knots (18.5 km/h) for 6 hours solely on fuel cell power, and including battery power, it can sail for 8 hours. Ken Do, the CEO of HLB ENG, stated, “Constructed with Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP), it's capable of all-weather operation, even in shallow urban rivers.”
